Hand of Doom

Hand of Doom

I co-host live lit events with my sometime writing partner Ribs Norman and Hand of Doom Productions, a collective of writers and performers.

We held our first event, Spooky Stories for Grown Ups just before Halloween 2016 and were a bit overwhelmed when nearly 60 people turned up.

Local performers Nicola Howard, Louise Burgess, Ryan Hill, Lucy Arnold, and Jo Blach read stories by Matt Hodgkinson, Jo Tiddy, Kate van der Borgh, Primrose Coulter, Truda Thurai, Ribs Norman and me.

Festive Phantoms and Yuletide Yarns took place a few weeks later at Family in Folkestone.

For Valentine’s Day 2017 we ran Twisted Love at The Old Wine Vaults in Faversham and three night’s later at the historic Grand Hotel in Folkestone. And in May we ran a ‘May’ themed event at The Grand Hotel and at The Guildhall, Faversham.

Our next event is Tales of the Triennial at The Troubadour, Tontine Street, Folkestone, on Friday, September 27 from 8pm. We’ll be reading stories inspired by the artworks commissioned for the Folkestone Triennial, the UK’s largest public art festival.

For Halloween, we’re running several events including storytelling at The Grand Hotel, Folkestone, on Friday, October 29.

We’re always looking for new writers, especially those living in the area, so please contact us if you’d like to get involved.

You can listen to Ribs reading her story Tied to the Past.
